Ep. 183 - The Great Roast (Ft. Matt S.)

We've got a special episode today, with our first guest on Stream of Thought in over a year! Victor and Rix are joined by Rix's friend, Matt. Matt and Rix met as Rix was working through his recovery program, and while these two have very different worldviews, they found common ground and friendship through a shared goal of trying to be better and more whole people. 

It's an incredible conversation about how we can have love for one another even in strong disagreement, in addition to the challenges we have in coming to that place. 

And of course, with two of Rix's friends in the room, Victor and Matt collab for one of the greatest roasts of Rix on this podcast today.

Ep. 182 - Paper Clip Tea

Paper clip tea? What's up with that? Well, as usual, there's a specific reason for each title, and this one is no different. Why there is a paper clip in someone's tea, you'll just have to listen to find out. Zoom Zoom ZOOM!! No, not the Mazda car commercial. Omg. Do some of you even know what we're talking about??  Gosh, we're old.  Anyway, ZOOM.  Victor talks about an online class that he's currently taking and Rix describes the latest update on his monthly chaplain meetings, which bring new light to life experiences.

Ep. 181 - Oh the Humanity!

Today we have a bit of a Ranting Rix where he had an encounter with his Church leadership. Is it possible to separate emotions from action? Victor and Rix discuss. Is Facebook the answer or the problem?

Then there's a brief conversation on the riots at the capitol, and even though neither Rix or Victor get into politics much, we discuss the weird behavior of people in this weird time.

And finally, Victor has a fun conversation on a potential scam he encountered the past week.

Victor shares a few noticeable differences in his daily routine as he continues to become accustomed to having short hair.  Rix makes trip to the mechanic and questions how a "Johnson Rod" can be so expensive!

Ep. 178 - "Once upon a time, there was a bear..."

Today's episode begins with a Christmas MIRACLE!! That's right! A surprise visit by a dear friend who made his way out to Los Angeles.  And then, Eco-systems.  No, we're not talking about the beautiful flora and fauna, but rather one's MIND and the fertile soil that surrounds it, or lack thereof.  Rix proceeds to share a few Christmas concerns and why tension has risen on the home front, followed by an analogous story so eloquently shared by Victor. Ep. 176 - The Bicycle Diaries

Welcome back to another episode of Stream of Thought!  Today's episode begins with Victor describing a few mishaps that  occurred since using a bicycle as his primary source for transportation.  Also included is the latest news as to what's been happening with Rix's second podcast, Recalled:  From Police to Priest. This then segues to a conversation regarding questions - how to ask them, what makes an engaging questions and what are some examples of "stupid" questions?  Their response will surely bring you laughter.

Then Rix shares a bit about a car accident that happened right across from his house and the encounter he had with the two kids at the center of it.

Ep. 174 - Return of The Rix

This week Victor welcomes Rix back from an exciting and unique journey out to the East Coast where he performed a wedding days before Thanksgiving and in the height of a pandemic ravaging the country. It was an experience, one where Rix drove over 1,600 miles to and from New Jersey, staying only for a short 48 hours in order to protect the ones he loves.

Ep. 173 - Jump up! Jump up! and GET DOWN!!!

No childhood is complete without ever having jumped on a trampoline at least once.  So, what happens when you throw a few teenagers and a child into the equation?  That's right, SUPER JUMPS!! The end result may or may not conclude with laughter.  As they say, "Only the strong survive".  And speaking of "strong", Nature!  Rix and Victor recount a couple stories regarding local fauna and their experience witnessing the unforgiving side of nature.  But wait, there's more! A continuation of the saga that is, Adventures in the PCC.  Rix provides an update as to what's going on in the theological arena that continues to prove itself as a quality source of entertainment for Victor, at Rix's expense of course!

Victor has a new desk setup he's excited to share about, and Rix cuts in to ask whether Stream of Thought will ever be lived streamed on YouTube.

After that there's some fun news about Victor using a motorized bicycle. Is this the future of transportation? Victor certainly thinks so.

Then he follows up by a journey to the side of a road where his friend has sponsored a mile of highway and his experience cleaning garbage tossed out by uncaring individuals. And finally, we bring it home with a convo on the election. No, not controversial, but the conversations that Rix has had with some of his conservative friends in the wake of the election results. Then, they chat a bit over President Trump's Covid infection and Rix's plan to get from the Midwest to the East Coast in a month without having to go through an airport.
